History of Nassau Foods
Nassau Foods has developed a history of providing the finest ingredients with an old world tradition of customer care. With a variety of premium products that is unmatched by our competitors, we are here to serve businesses of all sizes. Our passion for the industry is further proven by our experience, extensive technical knowledge and education. We serve our clients as their one-stop supplier with next day 100% fulfillment. Our steady growth over the years is primarily due to word-of-mouth, which is a source of great pride. Grandpa Josh's is a division of Nassau Foods that launched in the mid-1990s. The owners recognized that many people enjoy creating their own sausages and jerky's in their home kitchen. From there it grew to include rubs, sauces, soups and spices. Traditional to trendy, the diverse line of seasoning mixes is not just for meat. Grandpa Josh's can bring something special to a variety of recipes for game, fish, poultry, pasta, vegetables and even eggs.
Chuck Sartell founded Nassau Foods in April of 1990 with the desire to partner with the “mom and pop shops” in need of a supplier who understood and valued their business. He wanted to build a family organization that would bring back the tradition of specialty service to those forgotten companies. The large corporations simply weren’t interested in the smaller business. That was the genesis of Nassau Foods which is now a leader in providing premium products with responsive, knowledgeable care. This quality of service even extends to Chuck personally taking phone calls to answer questions regarding the general and technical aspects of the business. In 2007, Chuck and his wife decided it was time to go into semi-retirement mode. Enter Steve Dempsey.
Steve brings vast experience as the new primary owner of Nassau Foods. His food industry experience with Kraft, Edward Don, Karps, and G&K Services in corporate management and sales has prepared him to keep Nassau Foods on track for providing old world excellence. Steve was more than ready for a change from the corporate world to a family-run business. After many months working side-by-side with Chuck, Steve realized that the philosophy and reputation of Nassau Foods provided the ideal opportunity–leading to the purchase of the company in 2008. Owning and operating a family-run business has been a welcomed change from the corporate world for Steve. He looks forward to the future of leading the continued expansion and success with Nassau Foods and Grandpa Josh's.
Nassau Foods looks forward to many more years of providing our customers uncompromised quality, old world care, with expert knowledge of today.
